摘要
As a low-cost and business-oriented technology, ZigBee boasts some distinctive merits compared to other wireless communication technologies, but it has experienced a journey of painstaking development in the past years. This paper gives a brief introduction to ZigBee technology in terms of its background, its characteristics and its strengths, analyzing the core technology of ZigBee followed by a conclusion of the widespread application of ZigBee in such diverse fields as home automation, medical automation, transport automation, industrial automation, agricultural automation and the automation of urban utilities. Besides, this paper makes an original analysis of the limitation causes of the ZigBee technology. Constructive suggestions regarding the prospect of integrating ZigBee and multiple other wireless communication technologies are made based on the latest information issued by the ZigBee Alliance. And predictions concerning the future trend of ZigBee are also made based on the given information.
