Design, fabrication and testing of a fractional-slot non-overlapping winding permanent magnet synchronous generator

摘要
In this paper, detailed steps and procedures for the design of a fractional slot non-overlapping(concentrated) winding(FSCW) permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG) is presented. Here the design of a 2 kVA, 1000 rpm, 230 V machine is done. Analytical calculation steps have been shown. starting with conventional design methods, main dimensions are chosen. Thereafter modern methods of determining pole-slot combination, number of turns per phase, the geometry of the stator and the magnet dimensions are adopted. Thereafter the design has been validated and fine-tuned using standard FEM-based commercially available software package. The parameters of the machine have also been evaluated. Finally, the machine has been fabricated by a local manufacturer and then tested at the lab. The preliminary test results are found to be in good agreement with theoretical predictions which upholds both the design accuracy and precision of fabrication.
