Metropolitan dimension of globalization:: Lima at the end of the 20th century

The spatial transformation of Metropolitan Lima represents an important case study because of the dramatic changes in places where people work, live, and play and the relationships among them. This case study sketches important elements to be considered in the development of metropolitan regions, which are expanding their international links. This article includes also a conceptual review of metropolitan spaces and networks, as well as an empitical assessment of the reorganization of metropolitan activities and networks in Lima, which have been driven by the ability of local actors to tap international capital and information.
