A model of optimal point of differentiation for mass customization

摘要
Postponement strategy can be an effective method to. achieve the essences of mass customization. In this paper, we construct a manufacturing system that includes N operations and produces M products. The system adopts the mode of mass production in up-stream operations and customer-driven or customization policy in the down-stream operations, Based on the system, we develop a model with consideration of the integration of trade-offs and time to determine the optimal point of differentiation. To illustrate the model, an example is presented.
