HUMAN CAPITAL AND SOCIAL QUALITY IN V4 COUNTRIES

The human capital is a relatively sophisticated category, not only from the aspect of economics itself, but also from sociology, psychology, pedagogy and from other scientific disciplines. The opposite situation is with the social quality, which is much more difficult to get into the awareness of the professional public. Its authors are W. Beck, L. J. G. Maesen and A. Walker, and they were first introduced it as a scientific problem in The Social Quality of Europe in 1977. Three years later, its concept became part of the European Economic Policy (Amsterdam Declaration on the Social Quality, 1997). By its substance, the social quality represents a new perspective for perception not only the social but also the economic, political, ecological and cultural dimensions of the human existence. Its little review evoked in us an effort to choose the goal of our paper to explore relationship between the human capital and the social quality in the V4 countries. All have gone through a totalitarian system in the past and are now facing similar consequences of the transformation process. We were interested in what level of the social quality we can speak within and whether level of the social quality is related to the human capital development.
