Region of interest video coding for result presentation in distributed video databases

摘要
In this paper a presentation technique for ranking results in video databases with object retrieval is introduced. Thereby, the expressiveness advantages of an animated representation are combined with the clearness of the presentation using extracted key frames. An animated summary of the resulting scenes is generated in a way that uninteresting areas are less conspicuous than the interesting one. The classification of the frames/areas into these categories depends on the matching degree between the example area submitted by the user and the most similar section in the current frame under investigation. By this effect the attention of the user is attracted to the regions of his/her interest allowing an intuitive navigation and retrieval of the desired video scenes even in larger result rankings. A number of visual examples prove the quality of the proposed technique.
