A Group Decision Support System framework for Medical Decision Making incorporating cognitive-aid structures and cognitive appropriation

摘要：
A Group Decision Support System (GDSS) framework to support Medical Decision Making (MDM) based on cognitive characteristics incorporating clinical reasoning and problem-solving features is presented. The role of cognitive processes which are inherent in MDM has influenced the development of this framework. The three key components of this framework are: "Cognitive-Aid structures". Cognitive-Aid structures incorporates technology elements to support cognitive processes encountered in MDM. Gidden's "Structuration Theory" [12] has influenced the development of the "Cognitive Appropriation" mechanism. Guilford's "Theory of the Intellect" [16] has been used to structure parts of the GDSS processes and group outcome. A comparison of the features of the proposed GDSS framework with major GDSS research framework is also presented.
