Blockchain has enormous potential to advance modern services, but it is important to remember that no new technology succeeds with the rip-and-replace method. Organizations using this technology will have a greater impact if they augment existing, well-established technologies such as electronic data interchange (EDI) systems. © 2012 IEEE.
