P300 and mismatch negativity in Parkinson's disease

P300 and mismatch negativity (MMN) were measured in 19 patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and 10 age-matched healthy controls. The latencies of N200 and P300 were significantly longer, and the amplitudes of N200, P300 and MMN were significantly smaller in the PD group than in the control group. The latency of MMN did not show any significant difference between the two groups. The present study suggests that the PD patients without dementia have impaired both cognitive function and automatic stimulus change detection, compared with the controls.
