摘要
A new process of producing titanium carbide powder from ilmenite concentrate was put forward. The ilmenite concentrate was reduced by graphite powder at 1500 degrees C for 6 h, with the reduction products of TiC, Fe and MgO. The porous reduction products were agitation leached in ferric chloride solution at 25 degrees C for 60 min. After the filtration, TiC powder accompanied by little MgAl2O4 and Mg2SiO4 were obtained. Finally, the element Fe was recycled from the filtrate in the form of beta-FeOOH after blowing air for 3 hours at 80 degrees C. The size of rod-like, beta-FeOOH particle was less than 1 mu m.
