The remnant of a merger as revealed by OASIS/PUEO

摘要：
We present preliminary results from adaptive optics (AO) assisted OASIS integral field spectrography of the SO galaxy NGC 4621. These data reveal the presence of a 120 pc counter-rotating core, the smallest observed to date, independently confirmed by unpublished STIS data. Detailed HST multi-band photometry is discussed, and a two-integral distribution function model is constructed. We finally discuss the possible origins of such a sub-structure.
