Separation between spin and charge in SU(2) Yang-Mills theory

A Yang-Mills gauge field with gauge group SU(2) can be decomposed into a single charge neutral complex vector and two spinless charged scalar fields. Under normal circumstances these constituents are tightly confined into each other by a compact U(l) interaction, and the Yang-Mills Lagrangian describes the dynamics of asymptotically free pointlike gauge particles. But in a low energy finite density environment the interaction between the constituents can become weak, and a spin-charge separation may occur. It could be that this separation between the spin and charge, in combination with a condensation of the charge carriers, occurs when the Yang-Mills theory enters its confinement phase.
