摘要：

The article refers to the environmental practices used by Costa Rican families. It presents a comparison of the data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) in 2010 and in 2017. The reflection focuses on the review of practices related to the provision and supply of water and sanitation, as strategies for the management of domestic wastewater. Also, it reflects on the production of garbage and, in general, the management of waste and residues, their elimination and culture in the separation of garbage. The important challenges that Costa Rican society faces to improve the conditions of families that still do not have the services and basic infrastructure for a more dignified life are evident.
