摘要
Thinnings have attained significance in regard to forest planning and growth modelling. Therefore, research in the area df forest planning should be focused on the development of advanced thinning models. Thinning models must attempt to mimic person-specific thinnings, as only a reality-based simulation of thinning decisions will provide necessary comprehension for reproducing a particular treatment, thereby enabling the practical use of an appropriate model. The development of a simulation model requires a comprehensive analysis and explanation of its underlying assumptions. Two main facts have to be taken in consideration: the probality that a tree will be removed within a thinning because of particular attributes varies from person to person; a thinning has a spatial aspect.
