The Sars-CoV-2 and its variants

During the month of February 2021, Covid-19 pandemic raises new concerns to caregivers and healthcare users. Most issues relate to Sars-CoV-2 variants. What do we know about the virus? What is a variant? Do these variants have a higher transmission potential? Can they cause more severe infections? Can people with previous Covid-19 infection become reinfected by the news variants? Three vaccines are available on the French market at present: two of them are mRNA based while the other one is an adenovirus vector vaccine. Are these currents options effective against the variants? This narrative literature review provides the elements to answer these meaningful questions in February 2021.
