The application of multiaxial fatigue analysis theory in shaft of transmission system

摘要
Shaft in transmission system is usually subjected to multiaxial loads and it is necessary to consider the Multi-axial stress effect in life prediction. The stress analysis and life prediction of a typical shaft have been carried out based on the elastic-plastic finite element method and multiaxial fatigue analysis theory. The result shows that range of stress experienced in each load cycle, mean stress experienced in each load cycle and presence of local stress concentrations are the main factors that contribute to fatigue failure of shaft. The outer factors, such as surface roughness, working environment and the shaft interior flaw, which leads to some error in life prediction, should be taken into account in fatigue analysis also.
