Securing BIG Storage: Present and Future

Recently data processing via cloud storage is attracting much attention due to the facilitation of high end storage resources and computing environments as pay per use basis at cloud side. Many commercial and noncommercial organizations are quite interested in sharing their data with this third party cloud being the purpose of cost saving in terms of maintaining individual storage. Basically the storage in the cloud is referred as cloud storage. Despite of effective cost saving, cloud storage is prone to many security threats. The confidentiality of the users' data is a critical issue at cloud based services. This paper reviews the current state of the art of the cloud computing technologies, possible security threats of BIGDATA storage at cloud environments and the solutions that address the security threats. Further, with the emergence in Internet of Things (lOT), the significance of developing new methodologies to secure a wide variety of data at cloud side is emphasized in future research directions.
