The place of literature in the media at the end of the second millennium

Presented within the context of a round table that took place at the Goethe's Institut in March 1999, these texts are devoted to the relationships, between literature and changing public sphere. Three readers: Gilles Marcotte, the Devoir's and l'Actualite's critic, Thomas Steinfeld, director of the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung's literary pages, and Jean M. Goulemot, critic for Le Monde, are questioning the place of literature in the contemporary cultural life.
