Women's Participation in Bangladesh's Labour Market

Purpose - The article is concerned with Bangladeshi women and their role in the labour market. Design/methodology/approach - Both a quantitative and qualitative approach has been employed. Findings - Like in many other countries, maternity, housework and little education are major barriers to women's participation in the labour market. Research limitations/implications - Bangladesh's Labour Code should provide more protection to female employment, helping women to strike a balance between family and work. Originality/value - The paper focuses on Bangladesh, a country where little research has been conducted on the issue of female employment.
