The "arts of memory" in Michel de Certeau

In the field of historical research, Michel de Certeau became known for the work of the 1970s "The historiographical operation", which was included in your work The Writing of History. The original approach given to subject contribuited as a platform to several subsequent investigations. However, the tense relationship between knowledge of the past and the "arts" of memory hasn't received due attention in cultural studies neither schoolers with Certeaunian perspective. This is the objective of this article, seeking to deepen the intuitions about temporality, the act of remembering and its potential for nonconformity. The aim is, hermeneutically, explore the part dedicated to problem in the work The Pratice of Everyday Life, published in France in 1980's. In this reflection, a gap between memory and historiography is observed, not only because the capacities and typical characteristics of Scripture, but mainly captured under the influence of pragmatic philosophy and the bioenergetic approach to remembering act. The tensions pointed out by the author remained little explored in Theory of History area.
