Power Tapping from a Current-Source HVDC Link Using Modular Multilevel Converter

摘要
A series-tap using Modular Multilevel Current Source Converter (M2CSC) for Line Commutated Converter (LCC) based HVDC transmission system is proposed in this paper. This series-tap is useful and economical to tap small amount of power (2%-5% of the main station rating) from the current-source HVDC link. The operation of the HVDC transmission system under the influence of the proposed series-tap is analyzed using CIGRE-HVDC benchmark model on PSCAD/EMTDC. Further, a P-Q control is implemented to verify the feasibility of M2CSC as a series-power-tap under various operating conditions.
