Shrink wrap processing of tubular composite parts

Shrink wrap tapes have been used to manufacture fishing rods, golf shafts and other tubular composite parts for decades. Yet this technology is not wed understood by most of its practitioners. This paper will describe how to calculate the compaction pressure generated by shrink wraps and present data on how several commonly used materials perform during actual cure cycles. Factors to consider in properly applying this technology will also be discussed.
