Characterization of a Tobamovirus isolated from canavalia (Canavalia ensiformis L.) in an experime ntal parcel at Aragua state, Venezuela

摘要
A Tobamovirus has been identified as being involved in a disease of canavalia in an experimental plot in the state Of Aragua, Venezuela. Results from indicator plants and serological tests based on Western blots suggested that the Tobamovirus was a strain of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). This was confirmed from the full sequence of the coat protein gene. Sequence analysis revealed that TMV isolated from diseased canavalia had a high identity (similar to 98%) with TMV vulgare type sequences reported from Korea and Japan.
