Formation of excited Cl(P-2(1/2)) atoms in O(D-1)+HCl(DCl) reactions

Excited Cl(P-2(1/2)) atoms are assumed to form by O(D-1)+HCl, O(D-1)+DCl, and F+HCl reactions due to long-range multipole Coulomb interaction between Cl atoms, on the one hand, and OH, OD, and HF, on the other. Excitation owes itself to rotational energy stored in these species. The probability of Cl(P-2(1/2)) generation in O(D-1)+HCl (DCl) reactions is estimated. Calculations were accomplished by the dynamic model of decomposition of an HOCl complex. The ab initio potential surface of interaction between Cl atoms and OH radicals and the experimental data on vibration-rotational distribution of the reaction products were borrowed from the literature. The results of calculations agree with the experimental data for the O(D-1)+HCl reaction.
