O-2/H2O combustion is regarded as a new generation of Oxy-fuel combustion technology, which is expected to be applied in coal-fired power plants to achieve carbon capture. However, the research on O-2/H2O combustion technology is still at the laboratory stage, some fundamental issues need to be addressed before industrial demonstration, especially in the areas of high O-2 and H2O concentration. Based on the relevant experimental and simulation studies, this paper systematically reviews the O-2/H2O combustion of pulverized coal. Firstly, the economy and efficiency of the O-2/H(2)Ocombustion power generation system are introduced, indicating that the O-2/H2O combustion technology is feasible. And H2O will make the thermochemical conversion process in O-2/H2O combustion to produce new phenomena and problems for its different physical and chemical properties from CO2 and N-2. Secondly, we discussed the thermal conversion characteristics of pulverized coal in O-2/H2O atmosphere, including pulverized coal ignition, volatile combustion, thermochemical reaction of char, and the conversion of N. Finally, based on the review and summary, we put forward future research needs.
