Multivariate analysis of risk factors for coronary artery disease in Jordan

摘要
The blood of 835 patients with documented acute myocardial infarction, C793 male (mean age 54.11+/-SEM 0.40 yrs) and 142 female (mean age 62.05+/-SEM 0.89 yrs) was tested for serum cholesterol Triglycerides, low density lipoproteins (LDL-C), high -density lipoprotein (HDL -C), fasting blood sugar,uric acid, and serum creatinine. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure and smoking were included in the analysis. Student's "t" test distribution,standard method of correlation and multiple regression analysis were used. There was a significant statistical correlation between HDL-c and both systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as serum cholesterol level. A significant statistical correlation was found between serum LDL-c level and diastolic blood pressure, uric acid and triglycerides. Women tended to have a significantly higher mean age (P<0.001) systolic blood pressure (P<0.03) and fasting blood sugar p (0.001), cigarette smoking was significantly higher in male's p<0.001.
