摘要
This paper analyzes and outlines the Clinical Engineering Perspective of healthcare and overall economic and social constraints of hospitals in general throughout Pakistan. It also discusses the discipline of Clinical/Biomedical Engineering from an educational and professional point of view, and describes routine practices of BMETs in Pakistan and what would the future be after a few years from now. An investigation was made into relationships between the equipment managed by biomedical engineering departments, the resources they had for this work, and the relative size of the hospitals. A survey was conducted involving 25 hospitals throughout the country to find out these aspects of health care management. Also discussed is the scenario prevailing in hospitals in the country. Hospitals being run by the private sector are managing equipment more efficiently with more biomedical technicians, as compared to the public sector, substantiating the financial constraints of government sector hospitals.
