Minimized Dual-band MIMO Antenna with High Isolation for 5G and WLAN Applications

摘要
In this paper, a minimized dual-band multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna with high isolation is presented for the fifth generation (5G) and the wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. The proposed antenna structure is composed of two adjacent identical antenna elements which are fed through microstrip lines. The isolation is improved by using a modified T-shaped structure with the defected ground structure (DGS). Finally, the antenna prototype is fabricated and measured. The measured S-11 < - 10 dB impedance bandwidth is obtained in 3.3-3.9 GHz and 4.6-5.5 GHz frequency bands, which can cover 5G New Radio N78 (3.3-3.8 GHz) and WLAN (5.15-5.35 GHz). The measured isolation is better than 15 dB, the measured efficiency is larger than 40% and the ECC is smaller than 0.1 in both operating frequency bands. Therefore, the proposed antenna is feasible to be used for 5G and WLAN applications.
