摘要
With rapidly increasing sales of Plug-in Electric Vehicles, its penetration in a grid system is also increasing significantly. These Electrical Vehicles (EVs) not only act as loads to the grid, but can also be harnessed as integrated energy storage sources when working in Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) mode to mitigate congestion. However, there have been limited studies on the comparison and impact of Plug-in Electrical Vehicles (PEVs) and Static VAR Compensator (SVC) in a grid system under congestion. This paper presents a systematic and comprehensive study of the impact of PEV and SVC and their performance comparison under congestion. The modeling of PEV in MATLAB/Simulink has been studied with respect to its mode of operation in Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Grid-to-Vehicle mode (G2V). Different situations of congestion in lines and the impact of PEV and SVC on the system performance have been tested on the IEEE 5-bus system in MATLAB/Simulink. This will give a great insight to compare both the device's performance under congestion conditions.
