School library, mediation and information literacy

摘要
It points to the need to value the school librarian, its importance as an educating agent and the indispensability of the partnership with teachers, expanding learning outside the classroom. It presents the role / function of the school librarian as a mediator in the students' learning process together with the teachers through information literacy. The librarian has the skills to empower individuals to independently perform activities of identification and use of reliable sources of information for decision making and problem solving within and outside the school context. It is presented as a literature review and addresses the school library from the concepts of mediation and literacy, establishing relationships between areas of education and library science. It concludes that the partnership between teachers and librarians is of fundamental importance and that the school library still encounters some obstacles involving the application of Law No. 12,244/2010, responsible for the mandatory implementation of libraries in schools.
