Assessing the results of system safety validation using Bayesian belief networks

摘要
We offer a methodology that can address and serve many needs of the validation process in this paper. We propose using Bayesian belief networks (BBNs) to develop analytical models that can be used to support decision making throughout the safety validation process. Our example is a demonstration of how BBNs can be used to assess the acceptability of results when a high level of uncertainty exists about the results of one or more activities, and how BBNs can be used to conduct sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of decreasing the uncertainty about the acceptability of the results of process components on the overall acceptability of process results.
