The effect of counterions on the structure of charged dendrimers: Computer-assisted Monte Carlo simulation

摘要
The effect of counterions on the spatial structure of dendrimers in dilute salt-free solutions was studied by the off-lattice Monte Carlo method in terms of the bead-spring model. It was found that as the Bjerrum length increases, dendrimer swelling changes for shrinking due to multipole attraction in the system; thus, it may happen that a charged dendrimer will be more compact than the neutral one.
