A TCSC Model for the Power Flow Solution of the Power Transmission System of Vietnam

摘要
This paper discusses the capability of a TCSC to control active power flows on compensated power transmission lines. A TCSC model that is suitable for the steady-state power flow solution is implemented in a load flow program using an extension of the standard Newton-Raphson load flow. This model is tested on an existing power transmission system in Vietnam. The results show that control of the active power flow using a TCSC can solve the steady-state load flow problems in the compensated lines. The computations clearly show that the TCSC can influence the transfer capacity in the Vietnamese power system in a positive way.
