A New Strategy for Solving Unit Commitment Problem by PSO algorithm

摘要
This paper presents a new approach for solving the unit commitment problem by generating all possible logical states of generating units for every hour of a day. The scheduling variables such as load demand of every hour of a day are coded as integers. The unit commitment problem is solved and optimized by considering both production cost and transient cost using PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION (PSO) approach. The problem solution must satisfy both generator constraints (such as minimum up/down times and maximum/minimum generation of every generating unit) and system constraints (such as reserve capacity and transmission constraints). This paper explains the proposed algorithm and applied to IEEE-39 BUS test system. The results were tabulated and compared with other solution techniques.
