Present Situation and Developing Strategy of Risk Management for Geo-Hazards along Pipelines in China

As the development of the pipeline construction in our country, the laying and operation of pipelines are all associated with risk because of the complicated geologic situation along it. Therefore, it is extremely essential to put risk management for geo-hazards along with the pipelines in an important position. This paper summarizes the present situation and technical contribution of risk management for geo-hazards along with the pipelines in China for the past few years. We compared it with the advanced techniques from other countries in order to find the disparity, and then proposed the corresponding countermeasure. We can not just copy the foreign advanced technology to redress the disparity but have to take measures on establishing a national pipeline database and other aspects to form a suitable risk management system of geo-hazards along the pipelines for our own country.
