Controlling End-fire/Broadside Radiation Using Parallel Patch Antennas for Wireless Head Mounted Display

摘要
This paper presents a parallel patch antenna (PPA) configuration to demonstrate an end-fire/broadside pattern switching method. By controlling the phase difference between the patch antennas, a linear phased array using PPA can achieve a beamsteering range of 120 degrees in the vertical, 300 degrees in the horizontal plane. The proposed antenna is fabricated using low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) and implemented with a 60 GHz transceiver module supporting the wireless gigabit alliance (WiGig) standard. The module successfully demonstrates transmission and reception of 4K video in real-time.
