摘要：

Using the panel dataset of China since 1978, we show that greater income equality implies higher human capital accumulation and economic growth. Human capital accumulation is the channel through which inequality might be harmful for growth which was observed by many economists. The results are robust to several estimation techniques, to different definitions of human capital accumulation, and to the inclusion of a variety of control variables.
