Simulation Based on the Five Spots Traffic Model for Evaluating Various Rules in Traffic Flow

摘要
This paper establishes a mathematical model to evaluate performances of various rules employed in highway. As for evaluating performance of the rule, we set up several assessment indicators including safe distance, traffic flow, the times of changing lanes and etc. The five-spots dynamic traffic flow model, namely, combined with the principle of bubble sort, provides a solution to study the changing of vehicles state information in the traffic flow so as to simulate varying transport phenomena. By simulating, it can be shown that the keep-right-exceptto-pass rule is more efficient in heavy traffic while the different-speed-limits-foreach-lanes rule can improve the traffic capacity and safety in heavy traffic.(1)
