The impact of JIT, QM, and EDI on supply chain management: Attaining superior delivery performance

摘要
Previous research has shown that joint implementation and use of JIT and QM as well as JIT and EDI have enhanced organizational performance. However, the literature lacks research pertaining to simultaneous implementation of all three improvement initiatives - JIT, QM, and EDI and their impact on supply chain management. In this study we empirically show that all three approaches are complementary in achieving superior delivery performance. Although the extent of JIT efforts by the plants differed by their strategic orientation, the extent of QM efforts, the extent of use of EDI or the level of delivery performance achieved by the plants did not.
