Ibero-American Integration and Human Rights: a Historical Framework Development

Taking into account the growing importance of the topics related to protection of human rights in international relationships as well as in the economic links established between Ibero-American nations, this paper analyzes how the protection of human rights has been included in the integration agreements forged since the middle of the twentieth century. Changes in this respect are evident and, at present, no Ibero-American integration project has purely economic purposes. On the contrary, they strive to include concerns about the human aspect of the integration process thus adding catalogues and clauses throughout history.
