Competitiveness of German manufacturing industry - An international comparison

摘要：
The paper reports about an international study comparing the competitiveness of German, US, Japanese, and Italian manufacturing industry. It shows a surprisingly good performance of German plants with respect to objective performance measures, like cost efficiency, quality, flexibility etc. However, regarding subjective performance measures the German plants do comparatively bad. It is shown that their low perceptual performance results from a tendency to underrate their competitive potential.
