摘要
How have rivers defined the American nation, and what have been the political, economic, and social consequences of moving water from one place to another? Put another way, the three themes I'd like to pursue today are, first, the geopolitical significance of rivers in American history, second, the importance of these rivers to urban and economic development, and third, the political implications of reclaiming swamps and wetlands.
