摘要：
The graph invariant M-2, known under the name second Zagreb index, equal to the sum of the products of the degrees of pairs of adjacent vertices of the respective (molecular) graph, was first considered in 1972. Since then, almost no result for M-2 was communicated in either the chemical or in mathematical literature. In this paper we state and prove a number of results for M-2 - identities and inequalities, including relations between the M-2-index of a graph and its complement.
