An integrated hydrogen production/storage system based on PV/electrolysis/metal hydrides for near-term applications

摘要
The near-term business opportunity of an integrated hydrogen production/storage system for the introduction of hydrogen for remote applications and for developing nations has been investigated. The integrated system utilizes thin-film amorphous silicon photovoltaics to generate electricity for the electrolysis of water for hydrogen production. The generated hydrogen is stored in appropriately designed metal hydride devices. The hydrogen can be used for cooking or for conversion into mechanical or electrical power. The configuration of several systems designed to meet expected market segments is presented.
