We investigated the distribution of physiological and pathological calcium in the submandibular salivary gland of rat using the GBHA (glyoxal bis (2-hydroxyanil)) staining method with special reference to the events occurring during the early stage of calciphylaxis and long recovering process of duct ligated condition to contribute to obtain a clue understanding the mechanism of pathologic calcification in the salivary gland. GBHA staining method was useful for investigating the localization of calcium in rat submandibular salivary gland under normal and experimental conditions.
