摘要
In this article, we problematize the literature for children with special emphasis on research that takes it as a motto for their methodologies. Thus, we discussed the classification, enjoyment and criteria for choosing works, in addition to reading, literacy, mediation, production and literary quality of books for children. We observed that researches involving children and that work with children's literature show how this art can provide reflections and means for children to understand and, at the same time, question the world in which they live, mainly involving issues of gender and sexuality. In addition, we found that there is still a small number of both quality works and teachers who develop work that primarily involves reading pleasure, largely due to their lack of training in their initial degrees.
