Based on the classifying about aerial target, founding the system of evaluating index which comprises tactical characters and physical characters of target. Rough set theory is a new mathematical tool to deal with problems of vagueness and uncertainty, which is a potential intelligent information processing method. On the basis of the knowledge reduction theory in rough sets, a new algorithm for aerial target recognition is put forward. The method can search aerial target's available features, reduce the dimension of the feature space for target recognition, speed up the identification of aerial target and improve the recognition rate. The experimental results showed that the method is feasible and effective.
