Reliability Analysis Based on Anthropometric Data of Young Female Body

Fitted cloth is the best tool for the performance of the stature advantages of human body. A wonderful fashion style must satisfy the requirements of different figures but not for the specific groups. This fact requires that the methods of structure design need to adapt to different figures very well. Anthropometric measurement is a necessary means to master the characteristics of the human body correctly in fashion design. With the rapid development of science and technology, the method of anthropometric measurement has developed from manual measurement to two-dimensional (2D) non-contact measurement and three-dimensional (3D) non-contact measurement. However, the data of human body obtained by different measuring methods differs from each other, that is to say, results obtained by different measuring methods may cause different levels of errors. Therefore, analysing and comparing the differences between the results of different measuring methods and ascertaining the reliability of the data obtained by these methods are necessary for the application and promotion of these measuring methods in the apparel industry. In this paper, manual measurement, 2D non-contact measuring technology and Symcad 3D non-contact body scanning technology are used to measure 50 young female bodies. Then we compare the data obtained in these three different methods to find the differences between each two of them and the reasons for these differences. This will provide basis for the application and improvement of 2D non-contact measuring technology and 3D non-contact body scanning technology.
