Laser micromachining of microstructure fibers with femtosecond pulses

摘要
The laser micromachining stage is added to the microstructure-fiber fabrication process. Laser micromachining of input and output faces of microstructure fibers using femtosecond pulses is demonstrated. Ti: sapphire laser radiation is used for a structure modification of fiber faces and ablative removal of microroughnesses on fiber end surfaces, improving the efficiency of radiation coupling into guided modes of microstructure fibers. Results of supercontinuum-generation experiments with laser-micromachined microstructure fibers are presented.
