A stateful architecture description language to support component composition

Today mature component middleware technologies have been applied to construct component-based complex applications. However those technologies are component-centric, which lack the ability to provide the "big picture" of the system. On the other hand, software architectures are used to control the complexity of component-based software and describe the "big picture". To combine them together we propose a stateful Architecture Description Language, xSADL to help designers specify functionally correct and type compatible component composition within a connector We also present an example to demonstrate the usage of xSADL.
